Three most common species on dove shooting - from the bottom upwards - the larger bird is a Rock pigeon, laughing dove and the red eyed dove.

Spur winged geese - the males weigh around 20lb (9Kg) - that's a lot of goose!!

You can see the shot in this picture. Did I miss?! Great sport with full and three quarter chokes - picking out the highest birds at 40 to 50 yards

Extra days of Big Game and bird watching in the nearby National Parks is easily arranged. This is one of South Africa's brightest birds - the lilac breasted roller. 

Bird Shooting trips in South Africa is not as expensive as you may think. 7 nights full board , 6 days shooting (high volume dove, walked up mixed, morning & evening goose and duck flights) laundry, alcoholic drinks, airport transfers will cost around £1,100.00. Only extras are cartridges (at cost) and tips.  

April 2008  If the winter season has been dry, then there will be less ducks (but always many, many doves). Last year in April, one group of 6 hunters had the following result in 5 days shooting: Geese 17 shot (5 Spurwing ggeese & 12 Egyptian geese) , Ducks shot 81 (red bill teal, yellowbill duck, shellduck, hottentot teal, whistling duck , fulveus duck , African black duck & Cape shoveler) , Francolin shot 14 (All Swainson'sFrancolin) , Guinea Fowl 74 shot , Doves 840 shot (rock pigeon, red eye cape turtle dove, laughing dove)
